Artist, Megan Hall was assisted by students, Aric, Tre, Rayne, and Dawson of Ms. Donna's Adaptive Learning Center to paint this tree composed of positive affirmations for young people to see and interact with everyday. The goal for the mural is for students and community members to read and internalize these messages!
Ms. Megan Hall is an instructor and a pivotal voice for Awakening Minds Art, especially as a leader of AMA's therapeutic programming, Megan has been with the organization since 2012.
Megan is also a staff member of Ms. Donna's Adaptive Learning Center which gives her a special connection to the location and students who will benefit from the mural regularly!
Ms. Donna, director of Ms. Donna's Adaptive Learning Center says, "We are beyond amazed by the work Megan has done and so happy she got the chance to do this and involve her students! She was able to connect with them through art and watch them connect with each other in the process! The mural is absolutely beautiful and the message it represents is even more incredible. We are so thankful AMA gave us this opportunity. We couldn't be happier to have this beautiful piece of art on our building that will continue to keep us connected to the community and hopefully keep the community connected, for years to come!"
"Since moving to Findlay in 2006, art has always played a vital role as connector. Art connects me to my community and my peers. Art played a roll in connecting me to my current careers. I use it each day in the classroom and with my clients to connect to them; in turn I use art to connect my students to their education and the world around them. Art has been my connector to several professional partnerships I’ve built over the past 15 years within the community.
Art is the one consistent link I see when I think about my connection to the community as a whole. Each encounter art has provided me has proven to connect me to humanity as a whole. I think that is why I value it’s importance in our lives. It’s what it’s all about: human connection." - Megan Hall
What does the hashtag #artmakesmeconnected mean? "Art makes us feel connected at Ms. Donna's Adaptive Learning Center because we get to sit back and be creative together! There's nothing better than getting to create something with someone, or watch someone's creative process! When we heard about the mural project, we thought, "what a great way to promote art, while connecting us with the community." -Donna Shick (Ms. Donna)
