Job Title: Development Director

Part-Time, hourly (Up to 20 hours per week)
Rate: Starting at $20 per hour
Location: Findlay Studio
Reports to: Board of Directors & Executive Director

Position Overview:
The Development Director for Awakening Minds Art will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to ensure the organization’s fundraising goals are met. This position is responsible for fostering relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners, developing & executing plans to meet the organization’s revenue goals, and defining how to track & analyze relevant data metrics. The role is integral to helping AMA achieve its mission by ensuring funding streams remain strong. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, skilled communicator, and passionate advocate for our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Donor Management:

    • Keep the donor/contact database up to date, ensuring accuracy of all records.

    • Track donors and provide timely reports to the Executive Director and Board on who needs outreach.

    • Write and send thank-you notes to donors promptly.

  • Fundraising & Grants:

    • Work with the Executive Director to develop & implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan.

    • Work with the Executive Director to enhance donor retention strategies, including executing a donor relations plan.

    • Assist with managing in-kind donations, ensuring proper tracking and acknowledgment.

    • Research grant applications to help fund AMA’s programs and growth, working closely with the Executive Director to help write and submit grant applications.

    • Monitor fundraising trends and adapt strategies to optimize results

  • Communication & Reporting:

    • Provide regular updates to the Executive Director on development and donor engagement efforts.

    • Pull reports and donor records from the donor database to assist with campaigns and targeted asks.

    • Track, analyze, and report on data from social media, Google Analytics, website traffic, and newsletter engagement, working closely with the Executive Director to improve communication with all stakeholders.

  • Philanthropic Engagement:

    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to cultivate an environment of philanthropy across all staff and stakeholders.

    • Support the execution of AMA’s annual events, including donor engagement efforts.

  • Program Development:

    • Undergo basic training to understand the day-to-day responsibilities of AMA’s instructors, to better communicate program impact to donors.

    • Help implement and track better Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for program evaluation.

    • Assist, as needed, with newsletter and social media content development.

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred. Experience in fundraising or donor management required.

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office, donor databases (CRM), and email communication.

·       Knowledge of nonprofit best practices, fundraising regulations, and tax laws.

·       Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.

·       Highly organized with attention to detail and follow-through.

·       Professional demeanor with the ability to represent AMA with donors and community stakeholders.

·       Passion for the arts and an understanding of the impact programs like AMA have on individuals of all ages and abilities.
